In Israel, there’s no shortage of beautiful things to see and interesting things to do. You’re spoiled for choice. Yet sometimes you just want to let loose and do something out of your comfort zone. And in Israel there are plenty of fun and adrenaline-fueled activities to be enjoyed, for people of all ages and abilities.

While touring some of the popular tourist destinations across this amazing little country, you can take time out to satisfy your wild side. In so doing, you’ll also get closer to the land and culture of Israel and see things from different perspectives.

If you’re looking for some exciting action on your next visit to the Holy Land, then consider the following extreme activities:

Golan Heights ATV’ing

Rev your engines! If you love to get behind the wheel, then an ATV’ing adventure in the Golan might be just your thing. You can drive all around the Upper Galilee, the Hula Valley and the Golan Heights in All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) from Moshav Dishon. Special routes have been erected, with safety and enjoyment in mind. You’ll be able to drive your vehicle along high cliffs, through valleys and even across rivers.

Dalton Cliff Rappelling

Longing to do some climbing? If so, there’s an amazing place in the beautiful Birya Forest to do just that. Dalton Cliff provides visitors with a picturesque setting for rock climbing and rappelling. Whether you want to climb and descend, or merely descend, there are various options for all age groups and skill levels (including complete beginner). From the cliff you’ll enjoy stunning views across the Golan and Hulla Valley. There are also hiking trails nearby.

Manara Mountain Slide

If rappelling down a cliff face still feels a bit tame then why not try sliding down a mountain! That’s exactly what you can do at the Manara Cliffs facility located in the Galilee, between Rosh Pina and Kiryat Shemona. You can race your friends and family down a 4000-foot track and reach speeds up to 25 miles an hour. It’s perfectly safe and a lot of fun. Also on site is Israel’s longest cable car ride as well as a climbing wall, a zip line, and places to enjoy delicious food.

Caliber 3 Adventure Training

Just twenty minutes from Jerusalem, in Gush Etzion, is a training site for counterterrorism professionals called the Caliber 3. Part of the large complex is also open to the public and provides visitors with a chance to practice their shooting and commando skills. There are activities for all different skill levels including learning how to shoot firearms and military-style training exercises. You can also get to know more about the famous Israeli Krav Maga martial arts system.

Zip-lining at Deer Land Park

Whoosh! Did you know that the world’s second longest zip-line is located in Israel? It is! Just outside Jerusalem, in Gush Etzion, is the Deerland Adventure Park where visitors can enjoy the adrenaline rush of a ride down 600 meters of wire over a lush green valley 120 meters below. It’s fast and offers amazing views across the region. Before and after you can enjoy the beautiful wildlife of the park, including deer, as well as rock wall climbing, bungee trampolines, paintball, and 4×4 jeeping.
