Top hotel spas at the Dead Sea

September 27th 2012

A must-experience for anyone looking for pampering relaxation while touring Israel, the Dead Sea region is famous for its luxurious spas. The healing waters of the salty and mineral-rich sea – and its world-renowned skin-enhancing mud – make the area an ideal place to relax and rejuvenate. Nearly all of the Dead Sea’s hotels and spas are clustered around an area just south of Masada called Ein Bokek.

The Daniel Hotel’s Spa is one of the largest spas in the area. Its two stories include spring water pools, Jacuzzi, Turkish Hamam, indoor and outdoor Dead Sea saltwater pools, and Finnish and steam sauna. The spa houses a fitness room as well, so you can exercise in between relaxing floats. Spa treatments include unique Dead Sea treatments, which take advantage of extracts from the sea itself.

The most luxurious spa is at the Le Meridien Hotel. It houses indoor and outdoor salt water pools, sulfur pools, jacuzzis, a dry and wet sauna, squash court and fitness room. Treatments such as a Dead Sea salt body scrub and natural mud body wrap are available. The spa’s courteous staff provides various types of massages, including Swedish, Thai and Indian. Pre-registration for treatments is recommended, by phone or online.

The Crowne Plaza has its own private Dead Sea beach. The indoor Jacuzzis and saltwater pools look out directly on the beach, so you feel like you are outdoors. The outdoor pool is adjacent to the Dead Sea, and swimmers often enjoy going from salt to fresh water and back again. The spa’s sulfur pool gives you the feel of the Dead Sea without the summer heat or the winter chill.

At the Leonardo Club Hotel, guests will be thrilled by the amazing view of the Edom Mountains and the Judean Hills. The spa offers high quality services, heated Dead Sea water pool, sulfur pool, Jacuzzi and a modern sauna. Once you are fully relaxed, finish off the experience with creative international dishes at the hotel restaurant.

Looking for a full day of pampering? The Leonardo Plaza offers day-long spa packages, including a Swedish massage and delicious lunch. A wide range of classic and alternative treatments are available, including mud masks, hydrotherapy, sulfur baths and mud baths. Make the day complete by finishing it off with beauty treatments at the hotel’s salon.
