Old Courtyard

December 2nd 2010

Learn all about the history of the Kibbutz movement at the Old Courtyard Museum at Kibbutz Ein Shemer. Most of the buildings are surrounded by a stone wall and have been restored to their original beauty.

There is a stone house that holds the kibbutz’s archives, a weapons exhibit, and a memorial room. Also located on the grounds is a museum where archaeological finds from the area are displayed. Visitors are able to enter into the refurbished residential dwellings to look at furnishings that were typical at the period of the birth of the settlement.

For some hands-on activities, check out the metal shop, tractor repair garage, foundry, bakery, and a granary. There are also activities for all ages including bread and oil making.
