Kfar Etzion

September 13th 2010

Kfar Etzion is a religious kibbutz located in the southern West Bank. Founded in 1927, it was established as a farming community known as Migdal Eder. In 1929 it was destroyed during the Palestinian riots, and rebuilt in the 1930s as Kfar Etzion. It fell again after 1948 but was re-established once again in 1967. Visitors to Kfar Etzion are welcomed into the kibbutz’s museum that documents the history of Kfar Etzion and retells the story of the fall of the kibbutz in 1948. A story is played out for visitors displaying the acts of heroism of the kibbutz members who fought during the War of Independence through a spectacular sound and light display shown over the ruins of the original bunkers where these men fought for their home and lost their lives.
