Join the Sukkot Festivities!

October 10th 2011

After a period of prayer and contemplation beginning with Rosh Hashanah and ending with Yom Kippur, there follows the week-long celebration of Sukkot. In 2012, it begins on September 30 and ends on October 7. Be sure to book some of the most desirable Israel tours of October 2012 so you can arrange to be in Israel for all of the fun.

There are numerous festivals and celebrations all over Israel. You can concentrate on just a few, or travel the country to sample many of them.

The Tamar Music Festival runs for about four days and brings Israeli and international musicians together. The highlights are two sunrise concerts in a venue that overlooks Mt. Masada. On the cliffs north of Herzliya, there is a two-day kite-flying exhibition with a spectacular location above Roman and Crusader ruins at Apollonia. You can combine this with a visit to the Herzliya Biennial, an exhibit for contemporary art which includes live music and nightly fireworks.

The Haifa International Film Festival also takes place during Sukkot and features many new movies along with appearances by the top professionals in the film industry. If you want to stay outdoors, the Acco Fringe Theater Festival in Acre provides around 450 outdoor theater and street performances featuring hundreds of Israeli and international artists. In addition, you can enjoy a Renaissance Festival in the unique setting of the Western Galilee’s Yehiam Fortress.

Whatever your interests are, you are sure to find some activity you and your family can enjoy if you visit Israel during Sukkot.
