Happy New Year! Celebrating it Right in Israel

December 28th 2016

Foreigners traveling in Israel during this season might find the lack of festivities jarringly alarming. Coming from the secular western cultures, where every street, storefront, and lamp post is cheering on the holidays, Israel seems to have missed the memo.

In fact, Israel as a nation doesn’t celebrate the Gregorian calendar new year. Israelis have to get up the next morning and trudge, hungover or not, to a regular work day. But since Israelis are a culture of people who never say no to a party, there are plenty of places where you can find fun and exciting New Year’s Eve celebrations even in the middle of the desert. Check out these hot spots this December 31st.

Tel Aviv Celebrations

Tel Aviv is certainly the most hoppin’ and poppin’ city in Israel during the New Year. From the bars to the bay, there’s music, movement, and massive celebrations happening all over the place, and there’s plenty of action for you to tap into. Take a look:

Brown Hotel Bar: You’ll get to enjoy the excitement of not one but two parties with this thrilling event. Party hop from the exclusive Poli House Hotel to other locations on the list, and dance to the rhythm of Adi Shabat, Glass Vegas, and other top rated DJ’s for an unforgettable NYE. Book ahead.

The Block: Looking for a major party scene? Check out this exclusive club that’s going disco for the new year! You’ll enjoy a variety of music styles along with vintage costumes, great drinks, and guaranteed fun all night long.

Sheva: The International Belvedere bash is not to be missed. Music, food, and of course, alcohol will be flowing all night long from 8 o’clock.

Shablu Jazz Club: If you like eclectic music, this is the place to be this New Year’s Eve. Free champagne until the ball drops, while getting into the sounds of world-renowned performer Italo Gonzalez e Fernando Knopf, Chicago Blues Mark Rashkow Legend, and more.

Jerusalem

Not to be outshined, Jerusalem has some New Year’s parties of its own. Aside from the array of restaurants giving special NYE dinners (check out the menus and specials at Mamilla, Touro, Medita, the King David Hotel, and more), hit the bar scene for some wild and crazy all-night parties. Oliver Twist, Abraham Hostel, Beer Bazaar, and outdoor concerts will be partying well into the night, so hop around, and have a blast!

Israel is always fun, so come celebrate NYE in style!
