The Collection House
December 2nd 2010
The Collection House in Tel Aviv houses a permanent exhibit of items used by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) during the 1948 War of Independence and first years after, including a variety of uniforms, weapons, army-issued dishes and cutlery, tanks, and special vehicles. Training programs are available to visitors to look through, as well as the personal stories of soldiers who were with the IDF during its early days. There is also a section of the museum that deals with the predicaments that often distinguish contemporary Israeli discourse. Visitors are also able to watch a short audio-visual film about Israel’s military system – how it was created and the changes that have been made to the IDF from the start of the military force until today.
