Apollonia National Park

December 2nd 2010

Apollonia National Park, located along the coastal plain just north of the major city Herzliya Pituach, is a magnificent park full of ancient history. The park houses the remnants of a thirteenth century Crusader fortress which was razed by the Mamluk Empire. There are two major hiking routes throughout the park – one follows along the cliff and is recommended for more experienced hikers, and one is perfect for a family jaunt on a nice afternoon. Once visitors reach the lookout point at the park, they will notice the remains of a Roman villa, as well as a majestic view of the Mediterranean coastline. During the months of July and August, the park puts on a Friday night concert series with some of Israel’s famous musicians.
