The Burnt House belonged to the priestly Katros family which was burnt to the ground by the Romans in 70 CE during the destruction of the Second Temple, and excavated in the 1970’s. The museum consists of rooms unearthed beneath the streets of the Jewish Quarter and houses many artifacts, including furniture, earthenware containers, as well as numerous coins dating back to the period of the Second Temple. Enjoy a 12-minute audio-video presentation while you are there that dates back almost 2000 years from the time of the revolt against the Romans to the burning of the Katros house.
