Haas Promenade (Tayelet)

The Haas Promenade (Tayelet) is located in Talpiyot, and from the apex, visitors are able to get a breathtaking look of the Old City of Jerusalem and the Dead Sea. Biblical tradition holds that at the site of the promenade, Abraham was shown the site of Mount Moriah for the binding of Isaac. Below the promenade, visitors will notice the remnants of an aqueduct, build during the period of Herod the Great to bring water to the Second Temple. At the end of the promenade is the United Nations Middle East Headquarters. Just below the slope of the promenade is the Jerusalem Peace Forest. Visitors can enter the forest and notice the number of trees – one tree for every child born in Jerusalem to symbolize the hope for peace that will bridge the Jewish and Arab populations.
