Vered HaGalil Horse Ranch

February 17th 2014

Founded in 1961, when its hilltop was not much more than brush and black basalt rocks, Vered HaGalil was the dream of owners Yehuda and Yona Avni. Today, Vered HaGalil is a professional horse farm, overlooking the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) and offering leisurely horseback riding tours that vary from one hour to a half-day long. Evening tours by moonlight and multi-day riding tours around the Galilee and the Golan are available for experienced riders. Vered HaGalil also offers meals at a country style restaurant called Tibi’s, relaxing spa treatments and no-nonsense lodging at cabins, cottages and suites.

Beginning riders get started with Vered HaGalil’s full orientation program, which includes explanations and demonstrations. The guides here pride themselves on being professional, courteous and friendly. Vered HaGalil horseback riding tours are suitable for ages 8 and above. Children younger than 8 can ride ponies named Milky and Mocha, whose gentle natures make them perfect for escorting smaller riders. All riders are fitted with helmets for safety. Vered HaGalil also operates a professional horseback riding school and riding camp, so you can be assured that the animals are especially well cared for.

Vered HaGalil spreads its charm over 30 acres. To maximize your visit to the resort, take advantage of the many spa treatments offered in three treatment rooms, including reflexology, hot stones, energy healing, head and foot massage and aromatherapy. Then close your day with dinner at Tibi’s Restaurant, located in the heart of the scenic resort. Specializing in meals made with fresh, raw ingredients and high quality meats, the recently renovated restaurant is run by Israeli chef Haim Tibi. The menu includes starters such as veal sweetbreads with potato ragout and liver terrine. Pastas, steaks, hamburgers, salads, poultry dishes and desserts round out the menu options. An overnight stay in one of Vered HaGalil’s 31 vacation units will restore peace and tranquility to even the most frazzled guests. Accommodations range from suites, cabins and studio rooms ideal for two, all the way up to apartments that can accommodate families and small groups.

Each part of Vered HaGalil’s offerings can be enjoyed on its own, but together, the horseback riding tours, spa treatments, country style restaurant and close-to-nature accommodations make Vered HaGalil an ideal place to spend an entire day or two in Israel’s north.
