Celebrate Hadassah’s 100th Anniversary with a Tour to Israel

Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, making it the ideal time to plan a private custom tour to Israel. They are going all out with a Centennial Celebration and Convention in Jerusalem in October. Jerusalem is the perfect starting point and base for your trip to the Holy Land, and the convention is only the beginning of your Israel tour experience.

Henrietta Szold, an American who dedicated her life to helping Jewish immigrants and fighting anti-Semitism, founded Hadassah in 1912. Inspired by a trip to Israel in 1908, Szold started Hadassah after seeing the dire need for better medical care among the Zionists settling the land. The organization first sent two nurses, and by 1918 was able to send an entire medical unit of 45 healthcare professionals. The organization went on to rescue thousands of children from Europe during the Holocaust.

Today Hadassah continues to be a pillar in the Jewish and international communities, and with 300,000 members, it is by far the largest Jewish organization in the United States. Hadassah has founded two state-of-the-art medical centers in Jerusalem, established a top academic college in Jerusalem, and continues to run programs to support Jewish youth from around the world.

Celebrate the centennial of this inspiring organization at their convention in Jerusalem this fall. With three days of activities, you can participate in the whole thing, or select specific activities. Evenings promise lavish buffet dinners, fundraisers, and a gala event. They offer three different program tracks based on your interests. Choose between the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower (tour the facility and meet the staff), the Jewish Education Program, and Tour Jerusalem.

The Henrietta Szold Award will be given out at the celebration gala on the final night of the conference. This year Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be the recipient, so don’t miss your chance to attend this dignitary-studded affair. It’s the perfect way to cap off this incredible multi-day event and homage to Szold and Hadassah.

Besides the convention, there is always plenty to see and do in Jerusalem, the capital of the Holy Land. Pray at the Western Wall, get some local flavor at Mahane Yehuda market, shop at the upscale Mamilla Mall, and get unique souvenirs in the Old City. Jerusalem is also the perfect base from which to plan your trip to Israel with Many attractions including the Dead Sea, Tel Aviv, and the beautiful north of Israel, just about an hour away.
